TBRI® Caregiver Training

Trust-Based Relational Intervention®, or TBRI®, is an attachment-based, trauma-informed intervention that is designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children. TBRI uses Empowering Principles to address physical needs, Connecting Principles for attachment needs, and Correcting Principles to disarm fear-based behaviors. While the intervention is based on years of attachment, sensory processing, and neuroscience research, the heartbeat of TBRI is connection.

Naomi Strawhorn, Victim Services Coordinator, provides ongoing TBRI training and support services to caregivers of children who have been abused or neglected. Training Classes include the following:

  • Introduction and Overview
  • Connecting Principles
  • Empowering Principles
  • Correcting Principles

Statewide TBRI® Implementation

In partnership with the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development, CASA of Hancock County coordinates the statewide implementation of TBRI across multiple sectors including Youth Courts, mental health professionals, educators, and child welfare.

These efforts include hosting monthly TBRI Practitioner meetings, coordinating training for youth courts, providing statewide TBRI Training to CASA programs, hosting annual TBRI Train the Trainers event for practitioners, supporting ongoing modeling for partner organizations, developing TBRI as an HR model, and providing technical support for TBRI Practitioners.

An annual Train the Trainer event is also offered to provide ongoing training and support within the state. Please email naomi@casahancockcounty.org for more information.

TBRI® in the Courts

TBRI® Practitioners Cynthia Chauvin (Executive Director) & Naomi Strawhorn (Victim Services Coordinator) offer court-level training sessions to assist with systemic trauma-informed care–not just for our children, but also for our inter-agency collaboration. Please contact cynthia@casahancockcounty.org for more information.

TBRI® in Educational Settings

CASA of Hancock County is proud to partner with Hancock County School District to implement trauma-informed practice through listening, support, engagement, training, and ongoing problem solving. Email naomi@casahancockcounty.org for more information.
